This advanced, hands-on course delivers in-depth instruction and practical experience focused on the Detroit Diesel Two-Stroke V-92 series.
Hosted at the new MSHS Pacific Power Group Power & Propel U Training Center in Ridgefield, WA, this course offers a purpose-built environment for real-world engine training.
Participants will complete an in-frame overhaul of a V-92 engine. The training emphasizes best practices in disassembly, cleaning, inspection to OEM specifications, reassembly, tune-up, functional testing, and troubleshooting—delivered in a format designed to build confidence and proficiency.
Hands-on training is ideal for those who need to understand how Woodward controls and associated accessories operate. MSHS PPG certified and factory-trained instructors offer practical, theoretical training in a closed-loop environment.
MSHS PPG offers the largest comprehensive Woodward-authorized training program for specific Woodward products, designed to give you a better understanding of product operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Attendees are eligible for CEU credits or Professional Development Hours (PDH). Time permitting, standard classes may be geared to customers’ specific requirements, covering everything from basic theory through applications to hands-on experience.
Standard classes are held at our state-of-the-art training facility or can be scheduled at your site and are conducted by certified instructors with many years of Woodward experience in engineering, application, and training.
Trained personnel can protect your critical operations. If you work with Woodward Industrial mechanical governors or electronic controls systems as a plant or vessel supervisor, instrumentation and electrical (I&E) engineer, maintenance operations, or an applications engineer, these courses will sharpen troubleshooting skills to increase efficiencies and uptime.
Woodward 723 PLUS control is a configurable control for prime movers. Both the hardware and software will be covered in class. During the course, the control will be programmed and monitored with Woodward Watch Window and a hand-held programmer. The control will be operated using a closed-loop test set to simulate an engine.
Woodward ProTech GII, TPS, and SX are speed Safety Devices for steam turbines. This class is designed to explain the operation, theory, installation, programming, and maintenance. The hands-on portion will include programming, adjustments, and troubleshooting techniques
This course starts with the fundamentals of AVR and excitation systems, from the wiring diagram moving on to the step-by-step configuring of a DECS200. The class includes hands-on setting up and configuring the two different AVRs and a review of the use of tuning tools.
Learn the operation, installation, and adjustments of 2301A (Analog) and the 2301D or E (Digital) Load Sharing Speed Control. Understand how the 2301A and 2301D or E control, actuators, and their associated accessories allow their engines to operate together, either on or off the infinite bus (utility). Hardware and software configuration/monitoring will be explained and connected to a loop test set.
Review Woodward digital steam turbine control theory and turbine parameters, installation, wiring, operating procedures, programming, and troubleshooting. The handson portion includes programming, adjustments, and troubleshooting techniques on the 505 connected to the simulator with specifically designed examples. Operate the control within a closed-loop test set.
The training is directed toward plant personnel involved in the application, operation, and maintenance of steam turbines and control systems utilizing the 505/505E. At the conclusion of the training session, the student should be able to install, program, and operate the 505/505E digital steam turbine control. A 505 control will be operated while connected to a closed loop test set simulating a steam turbine.
This class covers the servicing and commissioning power management systems using the 723 and DSLC & MSLC controls. The training includes the theory, installation, programming, operation, and maintenance of the 723 and DSLC & MSLC control system with the help of simulators and various modules.
Mechanical Governor Basics including TG, PG, PGA, PGG, PG-PL, UG-8, UG-25, etc. Learn about Woodward’s mechanical governor theory, installation, calibration/testing procedures, and maintenance. Practical training includes hands-on assembly and adjustments of controls.
