Fort Lauderdale, Florida - February 17, 2012 - Governor Control Systems, Inc. (GCS) has been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). GCS achieved cerification following in-depth assessments of all aspects of its business by LRQA. Audits of the GCS locations clearly showed how company-wide implementation of best practices has resulted in improved overall processes and led to successful certification. The technical expertise, progressive training and customer focus of GCS is a natural fit with the ISO Quality Management System and therefore assured smooth implementation of the ISO 9001:2008 accreditation. Woodward Authorized Distributor Opens Service and Repair Facility in Norfolk

Opening on November 1, 2011, GCS chose the location of Norfolk, Virginia, to offer customers within the Mid-Atlantic region a conveniently located governor service and repair facility, keeping equipment operating at peak performance while minimizing downtime. The GCS Mid-Atlantic service and repair facility offers local Woodward governor repairs and maintenance and is supported by GCS extensive Woodward inventory. GCS is the Woodward Authorized Distributor for Virginia and the surrounding regions, bringing state-of-the-art Woodward test equipment and factory trained governor specialists to Norfolk.

Turbo Division Reaches Preferred Provider Status

The MSHS turbo division services' a Caribbean utilities company that operates a diverse plant with a multitude of diesel engines and turbochargers requiring versatility and specific product knowledge. MSHS Turbo is their preferred provider for turbocharger solutions. MSHS provides the quality and responsiveness that ensures the Caribbean company success. We are able to deliver the experience necessary to support older ABB turbos and the knowledge to handle the newer‚ more powerful MAN turbochargers.

GCS Targets Engine Performance with KRAL Fuel Monitoring

GCS has added KRAL Fuel Consumption Measurement (FCM) systems to their line of industry-leading products. KRAL brings marine and power plant customers´ real-time fuel consumption data to optimize engine speed and fuel usage. Positive displacement meters‚ KRAL flowmeters provide precise measurement in harsh operating conditions over a wide range of engine loads and speeds. GCS Technicians are factory trained to specify‚ install and commission new KRAL FCM systems‚ in addition to ongoing trouble-shooting‚ maintenance and support for the life of the system.

Turbo Celebrates Test-Approval of Napier NA297 Retrofit

MSHS Turbo Division announced the first retrofit of its kind on CAT 3612 engines. The engine‚ originally fitted with antiquated ABB’s‚ was retrofitted with the newer Napier “7” series turbocharger. Benefits include; improved performance‚ less fuel consumption and increased longevity of engine components. American Commercial Lines‚ ACL‚ owner and operator of the M/V “Elizabeth Dewey” is satisfied with results and has forecasted additional retrofits to the main engine.
